The Hotel Kursaal & Ausonia were recently remodelled and equipped with eco-friendly, energy saving systems, like a new central heating/air conditioning unit that uses a portion of the energy produced to generate hot water.

The lighting was upgraded to use energy-saving light bulbs; water consumption was fully optimized by equipping all faucets with water-saving aerators that mix water with air, and by installing a micro-filtered cold water unit everyone can use to refill bottles.

We substituted complimentary single-use toiletries with dispensers, and installed automatic switches that turn off the electricity in vacant rooms.

Eco-friendly bio-degradable cleaning products have been adopted, and steam cleaning is now used for sanitation. Special containers have been placed in the hallways to aptly dispose of each type of refuse.

All hotel guests are kindly asked to respect the environment by replacing linens and towels only when necessary. Each year the hotel donates the actual savings to a different, worthy cause. This year our donation will benefit FAI (Fondo Ambiente Italiano), the National Trust of Italy.

Kursaal & Ausonia Hotel, particularly conscious of the environment and the sustainability, every year donates, for a worthy cause, the savings in terms of energy. With the “CLEAN” project and the demonstrated commitment to ecology, the hotel received from the Tuscany Region and the European Community an important recognition (given only to five hotels in Florence) and a Smart electric car, available to the guests.
