The "Festival dei Popoli" was founded in 1959, as a no profit festival, by a group of anthropologists, sociologists, ethnologists and media experts to support and discuss social documentary cinema. Their other very important goal was the restoration and conservation of archives (they currently contain over 9,500 titles) and the creation of workshops and courses for inspiring directors and documentary film-makers.
The 50th edition of Festival dei Popoli, the International Documentary Film Festival will take place at the historical Odeon Cinema from November 1 -7 2009.
The Festival's aim is to encourage debate and confrontation, analysis and dialogue through public interaction with experts in the field, including film-makers and key personalities in show business.
>Festival dei popoli explores people and their countries, offering portraits of men and women and stories from all over the world.
