The Pazzi chapel, located in the “first cloister” of Santa Croce, is one of the most beautiful examples of Renaissance architecture.
Its ceiling was in very bad conditions (50 percent of it was chipped away during the centuries) and so the Opera di Santa Croce undertook a restoration that lasted for 9 months and cost euro 70.000.

The chapel, designed by Brunelleschi for the former owners, the Barbadori family, was bought by Ludovico Capponi in 1525 who appointed Pontormo for the decoration.

"Festival dei Popoli" was founded in 1959, as a no profit festival, by a group of anthropologists, sociologists, ethnologists and media experts to support and discuss social documentary cinema. Their other very important goal was the restoration and conservation of archives (they currently contain

The Monastery of Fiesole's Monks
The monastery of San Marco is an outstanding example of Florentine Renaissance architecture. It was founded in the thirteenth century, but it was in 1437 when Cosimo il Vecchio invited the Dominican monks from Fiesole to move into town asking his favorite architect Michelozzo that the building became a masterpiece.

The rise and fall of the Medici bank
The book "Medici Money: Banking, Metaphysics, and Art in Fifteenth-Century Florence" is about the rise and fall of the Medici bank, and so, consequently about the Medici family: it tells you the incredible development of their business and the collapse of their bank (from Cosimo Il Vecchio who took it over in 1419 to his grandson Lorenzo the Magnificent who presided over its precipitous decline).

Florence and the bikes
Palazzo Vecchio, the city council of Florence, has launched a new campaign, ‘Più bici, più baci' (‘More bikes, more kisses') and ‘Esci dalla scatola' (‘Get out from the box') to encourage Florentines to opt for two-wheelers instead of cars. This option is available also for tourists that want to live the city as a real Florentine. Florence is a bycicle city: there are 63km of cycle lanes!
