During the month of May (til 20th) the Iris Garden is open, just below Piazzale Michelangelo
This garden was created in 1954 to host the International Competition for the best varieties of irises.
The choice of Florence was almost compulsary seing that it is the iris (and not the lily, as erroneously believed) the symbol of Florence and so there could not be better marriage.
This is a unique opportunity to admire this fantastic variety of flowers and colors having on the background the colors and the beauty of Florence.
For those interested, I can also recommend a workshop where craftsman Mr. Giuliano will show you the beautiful bracelets and pins in the shape of irises that he creates and produces with his own hands.
