Florence offers a number of museums. One of the most well known, the Gallerie degli Uffizi, stages works by da Vinci, Titian, Michelangelo, Raphael, Rembrandt, Goya and Botticelli. Botticelli's Venus, da Vinci's Annunciation and Michelangelo's the Holy Family are popular attractions at the Uffizi.
Il Bargello, or the National Museum, contains sculptures by Michelangelo, Donatello, Brunelleschi and Cellini, just to name a few. You can take in several Michelangelo sculptures, including David, at the Galleria dell'Accademia, Europe's first school of drawing.
At the Palazzo Pitti, visitors can combine art with a look at one of the Medici's historical homes. Caravaggio, Raphael and Titian are only a few of the artists found here. The Palazzo also offers a modern art museum, a costume gallery and the beautiful Baroque style Boboli Gardens.
Don't forget to take time to visit Museo dell' Opera del Duomo for a look at Michelangelo's Pieta and Luca della Robbia's Cantoria. Works by Arnolfo di Cambio and Donatello may also be found there. While reservations aren't required, it's a good idea to have them. Due to the popularity of the museums, those without a reservation often have a long wait, sometimes as long as several hours, to get in.
